Construction Begins on Expanding Canton Montessori School for Infants through Fifth-Graders JUNE 3, 2009 — A trailer and bulldozer are on site, and the basement is being dug. Families seeking high-quality Montessori education for infants through fifth-graders are seeing steady progress on Schoolhouse Montessori Academy’s new campus at 1675 Haggerty, just north of Palmer. The 18,000 square-foot school is almost double the current space on North Canton Center Road and will welcome 100 more students — 288 total — while adding fourth and fifth grades. “Parents are excited about the new facility because of its strong school atmosphere — a hallway leading to each warmly designed classroom, a multipurpose room, a bigger playground,” Academy Director Lisa Rippon said. “We’re investing in Canton because parents here seek excellence for their children, and demand for our school grows every year.” “Parents typically research many schools and choose our nurturing approach, with students constantly enticed to explore and learn,” she said. “Parents see that at Schoolhouse Montessori, education happens all the time, even for infants. This isn’t daycare; it’s school.” Schoolhouse Montessori Academy Canton South will be located off I-275, providing easy highway access for working parents, Rippon said. Construction will be complete next spring, in time for Summer Discovery School. Parents may visit www.schoolhousemontessori.com. Applications are being accepted for fall enrollment.
